Hydropower generators for the second phase of Renace Power Station

 Renace II

The fourth phase of this project will see the conversion of the private electricity generator Renace into the largest hydroelectric power station in Guatemala, with a total installed capacity of 306MW on completion of the project.

Alconza has participated in the second phase of this project, contributing to an improvement in the supply of electricity to the inhabitants of the San Pedro de Carchá municipality (Alta Verapaz), through the exploitation of the Cahabón river.

Alconza's technical team has just finalised the implementation of 4 generators of 33.76MVA power at 450rpm with 13.8KV. These generators have been designed and manufactured by the company, who are specialists in the design of hydroelectric applications. In this phase of the project, Alconza has developed a special design which boasts both low vibration levels and easy maintenance; this in turn, allows the dismantling of the axel when the turbine and machine group are both fully assembled.

Alconza seeks to reinforce its position in the hydropower market through this recent investment in the expansion of the production plant. This will allow the company to take on a greater range of machines.
