1990

First deliveries in NAVY projects with anti-shock capabilities

Supply of generators designed with anti-shock capabilities for the Spanish Navy in the F-80 frigates, which were the beginning of a long list of references in ships with Military Standard requirements.
The F-80 frigates accumulate around three decades of service on average, and will remain in service until the arrival of the future F-110, where Alconza also participates in the supplies.

1998

Synchronous Motors for Propulsion

Supply of vertical synchronous propulsion motors for the drilling vessel DISCOVERER ENTERPRISE, which achieved the world record in drilling depth. It also serves as a platform for maintenance and installation works in oil fields.

2005

First Tandem Propulsion Engine

In the complete supply of engines and generators for the NORMAND INSTALLER, which is a multipurpose ship in offshore applications, designed for underwater construction, maintenance and installation in deep waters, which holds the World Record of “Bollard bull” with 300Tons.

2005

Tilt-tested emergency generators according to DNV standards

Emergency engines and generators for H6 semi-submersible platform, the largest in the world, which are specially designed to meet the highest environmental standards and can operate in ultra-deep waters, hostile environments and extreme temperatures at long distances from the supply infrastructure.

2005

First propulsion supply for icebreaker ship

Complete supply of all rotating electrical machines on the icebreaker MOSKVA, which was the first non-nuclear propulsion ship built in a Russian shipyard after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
In subsequent years, engines and generators were delivered for numerous icebreaker ships.

2006

First medium voltage propulsion for icebreakers

With the supply to the TOBOY ship, the range of products available for icebreaker solutions is completed with both low and medium voltage supplies, as well as synchronous and asynchronous solutions.

2009

Supply of the first In-Line propulsion synchronous motor.

Complete supply of all rotating electric machines for the ship AKADEMIK TRYOSHNIKOV, which was a great event for Russian science, as it was the construction of a research vessel 25 years after the previous one.

2010

First complete supply for offshore wind generator installation ship.

Range of engines and generators available and adapted to the new needs that the construction of offshore wind farms began to demand in the 2010s, and that today is integrated with the environmental strategy in renewable energy deployments.

2011

Supply of rotating electrical machinery for test rigs

With the supply of 12 MW motors per motor in back-to-back configuration, the company has contributed to the development of converters on the test bench of the Stord Technology Center of one of the leading integrators and designers of solutions for ships.

2014

First in-line tandem for oceanographic ship

The oceanographic vessel RRS Sir David Attenborough is equipped with a power plant, which can operate in different configurations depending on the mission and operating conditions, with four 2,750 kW asynchronous electric motors driving two 5-bladed variable pitch propellers.

2015

Permanent magnet motors for electromobility

Range of magnet motors for electric bus powertrain as an introduction to electromobility.

2018

In-line propulsion engine for NAVY

Supply of all the rotating electrical machinery for the oceanographic ship with icebreaker capacity Almirante Oscar Viel Toro, which is the largest and most complex ship ever built at Asmar in Talcahuano, and the first of its kind to be built in a shipyard in the South East Pacific.

IRIZAR GROUP

Together for a safer and more sustainable future

We are a business group with an international presence that operates in the passenger transport, electromobility, energy, electronics, electric motors and generators and connectivity sectors.

The Irizar group is made up of seven companies (Irizar, Irizar e-mobility, Alconza, Datik, Hispacold, Masats and Jema) with 13 production plants in Spain, Morocco, Brazil, Mexico and South Africa and its own R&D Centre whose objective is the applied research and technological development of the Group’s own products and systems.

Irizar, S. Coop is the parent company and its headquarters are located in the town of Ormaiztegi (Gipuzkoa-Spain) where Creatio, the Group’s Research and Development Centre, is also located.

Founded in 1889, the Irizar Group is today a solid group, made up of more than 3,000 people and with an aggregate sales volume of more than 766 million euros, diversified geographically and industrially, and in continuous growth that is firmly committed to the brand, technology and sustainability.

INNOVATION

Innovation as a hallmark

We have a team specifically dedicated to R&D, working continuously on product innovation projects and new technologies, which allows us to be an agile organisation and stay ahead of the market.

Using the latest tools for product design, ALCONZA develops different lines of research in the sectors in which it develops products.

Marine propulsion

Thinking ahead

Development of more optimised compact solutions, incorporating disruptive technologies.

Magnet motors

Optimisation of rare earths

The high efficiency of these engines, together with their compact size, leads to a constant evolution of these machines, incorporating innovative solutions and adapting them to different vessels and applications.

Electromobility

Tailor-made traction solutions

We develop traction motors for different types of vehicles, adapting to customer needs and offering tailor-made solutions.

Hydroelectric generation

Innovating in design and processes

Experience in hydroelectric generators, combined with innovation in new production processes, ensures an optimised product that meets the needs and requirements of our customers.

Internal knowledge, which is often the starting point for the creation of new products and new technologies within the company, is complemented by regular collaboration with external organisations such as Technology Centres.

On the other hand, ALCONZA is part of the IRIZAR GROUP, whose technological capacity allows it to offer top level products.

As an example of a success story, with the collaboration of its CREATIO R&D Centre, as well as other companies in the group (Irizar, Irizar e-mobility, Hispacold, Jema Energy, Masats and Datik), ALCONZA has participated in the development of zero emission urban vehicles and their main components and systems.
