    After an intermediate stage in which Alconza belonged to North World S.L and Ingetram, S.A., it became established as a company devoted to the marine and hydropower sectors.

    The Dutch group Royal Begemann Group, through their company Holec Machines en Apparaten Bv, took over Alconza, contributing new technology not only to the design of machinery, but also to the productive processes (VPI with epoxy resin, etc.).

    During these years, the need for electric machinery for the numerous shipyards along the Estuary of Bilbao, as well as Galician shipyards, resulted in a boom in the commercialisation of this sector, developing technology specific to the design of rotating machinery for marine use.

    The shareholding of the company changed hands to those of Banco Pastor, incorporating the company FENYA from El Ferrol which produced alternators with A van Kaick licence. AvK was the first pioneering company in the development of alternators without brushes, FENYA being the first company to introduce them in Spain.

    Alconza was founded in 1962 by the German firm CONZ, located in Hamburg, dedicating itself mainly to exporting to Germany, to the crane sector. It was founded by a group of Basque investors. Technicians and workers from multinational companies, manufacturers of electrical machinery, with a presence in the area, joined the new Alconza S.A., whose first factory was located in Berango.

    At first, it used technology from German brands to design its machines, such as CONZ, Garbe Lahmeyer, Klose, etc.
